Happy New Year, Sourcers!
We look forward to the exciting change and developments this year will bring. If 2018 is anything to go by, the landscape for Sourcing will continue to change and grow, presenting new challenges as well as new solutions.
One source of change in the new year will be the adoption of skills and techniques from other industries. Specifically:
  • Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) - Sourcers know some pretty cool tricks for finding and backgrounding potential candidates, but the OSINT community takes a much deeper dive into the world of online research
  • Growth Hacking - this marketing discipline is all about staying ahead of the game by finding novel ways to engage with an audience; what could be more important to Sourcers facing ever-increasing competition for their candidates’ attention?
  • Software Development - whether developing new tools, or deploying existing ones in new ways, coding skills are becoming an important addition to Sourcing teams everywhere
Of course, some things will not change. Sourcing is ultimately about identifying the right people, and engaging them at the right time, to add the right capabilities to our (or our clients’) organization.
Though we may find new places to look for those people, and new methods for engaging them, Sourcers who maintain a “people first” focus will continue to be successful.
Here’s to a safe and successful 2019 for you and yours. Happy Sourcing.
