Sourcing News and Tips
It seems like every week, we hear from a fellow Recruiter expressing their intent to drop LinkedIn “because it’s so awful.” We don’t share this opinion. After all, why stop accessing a gigantic live professional database, even if its user interface has many flaws? We source on LinkedIn for every position we get.
However, something we observe far more often is an even worse approach: Recruiters who log into their LinkedIn accounts and do all their Sourcing from there. Relying on LinkedIn alone means seeing only a fraction of the available information about professionals available online.
By exploring resources beyond LinkedIn, and beyond all the “usual suspects” for Recruiting, can supply you with over ten times more information about relevant information about target professionals. This week’s Sourcing without LinkedIn Workshop see “Training Events” below) is all about how to expand identify and exploit these new resources.
Sourcing outside of your comfort zone is our theme this week, and we’d love to hear your favorite "outside the box” sites and methods for finding and engaging candidates, too. Drop us a line, or see “Feedback” below for more ways to join the conversation.
